Other side of being fifty
So much of rising anxiety
So much not to remember
Sidelined as a valuable family mamber
Plumbing becomes dodgy
Reaching rest room hitty-missy
Becoming unsocial so scary
Wrinkly skin least of the worry
Sneezing the bladder gently goes
Climbing stairs breath also labours
Ringing in the ears with no orchestra
Needing aids for eyes and ears extra
Agility it’s a distant memory
When memory losing its agility
Fragility is a constant company
Company is fraught with fragility
Tooth brush and hair-
comb
Die a natural death
Hair dye and glasses for the eye
Are specific attire to suit well nigh
Still silver and golden Jubilee
Pearl and ruby wedding anniversary
May make one feel so rich
In wits and wisdom so proud of which
Yet in one piece getting to the finish line
Is not a walk in the park, if you know what I mean
It’s a hard grind, never mind the crutches
Visiting temples, mosques or holy churches
When old never mind your wrinkles
Then as youngster as you did with pimples
Then one was on a hormone-roller-coaster
Over fifty life is good if can avoid a wheelchair!
